There are three theories or principles that support the techniques and applications of Wing Chun they are, the centreline theory, simultaneous attack and defence and economy of motion. The principles are the essence of Wing Chun and are the reasons why it is one of the most effective, self-defence and street fighting systems practised in the world today. The three main guiding principles are:
